Sitar, also called a plucked stringed instrument from Indian sub-continent used in Hindustani classical music. Khusrau Khan is known to be the originator of Sitar.
In Western Music
In 1960s, Sitar reached western music when bands such as the beatles,the Doors, the Rolling stones and others used the guitar in composing their music tracks.
TYPES OF SITAR
1. Pt.Ravishankar Style Sitar
2. Ustad Vilayat Khan Style Sitar
One uses seven strings and another used six strings.Standard tuning they follow is in C and other strings follow the concept of sympathetic resonance or sympathetic vibration to generate soothing musics.
